Best-In-Breed Top 10 List
Instant IP Interaction! (top) The Hypercom T4100 offers instantaneous and seamless connectivity. You do not need to re-download the Hypercom T4100 to switch to IP in the future. It’s “plug and play” for the merchant! The merchant simply unplugs the terminal from the phone line and plugs it right into their broadband connection. If it doesn’t recognize an IP connection, it immediately switches to dial up. It works automatically and instantly! Hand in hand with automatic IP connectivity is automatic download initiation. For example, if a storm occurs and causes a power surge at a merchant location, terminals can lose their programming or become corrupted. Should this happen at a location that has a Hypercom T4100, when the power comes back on, the terminal will automatically start dialing in to download the last transaction/program/file downloaded. Direct Diagnostic with IP! (top) One of the best features of the Hypercom T4100 is its unprecedented diagnostic capabilities. It eliminates finger pointing and takes the guesswork out of IP troubleshooting. No matter what time of the day, if an IP connection goes down, the merchant can call into our Help Desk and the Customer Service Representative can easily walk them through a basic diagnostic that automatically determines the exact cause of the failure. For example, if a merchant is getting error messages when trying to process a transaction over an IP connection, a test can easily be initiated on the terminal that pinpoints where the problem lies, i.e. the Ethernet cable (Cat-5) , the merchant’s Internet set up (router, firewall, etc.), the merchant’s Internet Service Provider (AOL, Comcast) or the credit card processor. This is an invaluable feature because rarely does the merchant actually know what a router is, if they have a firewall, if their ISP is PPOE or if they have a static or dynamic IP. The Hypercom T4100 eliminates time-consuming troubleshooting for IP processing. This state-of-the-art feature also eliminates the need for terminal replacement when settling a disagreement with the merchant over whether the terminal is the cause of the problem. The IP diagnostic of the Hypercom T4100 gets the merchant back in business quicker than ever before—and is invaluable during initial set up. Hand in hand with the diagnostic feature is the ability to view the IP configuration at the touch of a button. Hypercom T4100 offers this patented technology for your protection. Multi-Application Ability! (top) The Hypercom T4100 offers multiple applications that run simultaneously in active memory. This means the user can switch quickly between several applications without any lag time to load each app into memory when selected. Since applications can be on at the same time, data can be shared between them for consolidated report. Our AAE (Adaptive Application Environment) independently controls resources so one application cannot “seize” the card reader and prevent other applications to be utilized. Retail Tip Program! (top) The Hypercom T4100 offers advanced technology for merchants that require tip program applications with no transaction downgrades. This technology supports:
Restaurant Program! (top) Whether your merchant is a small café or a large family style restaurant, the Hypercom T4100 provides for programs where tips can be adjusted by the server/cashier with tabs and shifts. Batching Out! (top) The Hypercom T4100 facilitated end-of-day reporting faster and more efficiently because its prints is 18LPS! 18LPS means 18 lines per second. The T4100 prints sales receipts in 1.7 seconds as compared to the Vx570 that prints sales receipts in 2.8 seconds. In fact, the Hypercom T4100 has enhanced speed on all applications: T4100: Full download over IP - 2 minutes Full download over dialup (56K)- 7 minutes Partial download over IP - 11.9 seconds (including restart to renew IP address) Partial download over dialup - 69.4 seconds Vx570: Full download over IP - 4.5 minutes Full download over dialup - 20 minutes (depending on how many applications, i.e. checks or credit cards only) Partial download over IP - 1.5 minutes Partial download over dialup - 3.75 minutes Transaction times: T4100: IP - Average between 2.6 and 3.2 seconds Dialup - Consistently 5.9 even when trying IP first Vx570: IP - Average between 2.8 and 3.2 seconds Dialup - Consistently between 12 and 13.7 seconds There is also no worry about wasting paper when batching out with the Hypercom T4100’s 80mm roll size. This is how much bigger the paper roll is on the T4100 as compared to the paper roll on the Omni 3740/Vx570:
Check Certification! (top) The Hypercom T4100 is certified with check guarantee and conversion service for both Dialup and IP. Security! (top) Many merchants have experienced problems with other terminals when it comes to security. We've already seen that some people have figured out how to eliminate the locked password on the VeriFone terminals. This is not possible on the Hypercom T4100! The T4100 utilizes a PKI that allows you to personally sign your applications and terminals so that only applications that have been signed with your certification can be loaded into the T4100. The Hypercom T4100 terminals are embedded with an electronic signature that only matches the signature on our local Termaster. No one can alter it if their applications will not run on it. Embedded Programs! (top) Embedded technology provides for help screens as well as enabling the terminal to print exception reports to assist the developers with their diagnosing, should software errors occur. The help screens are a great feature on the Hypercom T4100 for many reasons. For example, when the merchant chooses “IP Diagnostics” on the home screen, the first option that appears is “View IP Config.” To the right of the screen appears a question mark. If the merchant presses that icon, the screen opens a window that explains what “View IP Config” is and does. In this instance, the explanation reads: “Displays the cable link status, terminal IP address, subnet mask, gateway & DHCP status.” This feature is extremely beneficial for merchants as it educates them about networking and more technical jargon. Each corresponding question mark tells the user what that particular feature is what is does, similar to the “assistant” feature found in Microsoft Word, only without the animation! 35 Keys! (top) The Hypercom T4100 boasts an unparalleled key configuration. There is a key for every program and each key also has a letter on it. This is especially helpful for non-English speaking merchants. For example, if someone calls in with a settlement problem and can’t understand what the Customer Service Representative is telling them, the rep can easily direct them to press the “E’ key (which corresponds to settlement) and they quickly understand and can resolve the situation. |
